Ibom Angels FC of Uyo on Wednesday defeated Delta Queen FC of Asaba 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2018 Aiteo cup played in Enugu.
The two teams battle to a goalless draw in the first 45th minute but Ibom Angels took the game to Delta Queen at the beginning of the second 45th minute.
The team from Uyo got rewarded for their hard work in the 51st minute as Glory Edet made the deference with a powerful shot from the edge of the 18 yard box.
Speaking at a post-match conference, Ibom Coach, Whyte Ogbonda, praised his team performance against a highly rated Delta Queen.
Ogbona said: “I will say that the players gave me a high class performance against a highly rated female club side.”
He said that his team was able to beat their opponent through hard work and training.
He said: “I made them know that in Akwa Ibom, there are always a reward for excellence as the governor asked us to reach the final and probably win the cup.
“We are fire up to beat any team in this year’s competition with the two victories recorded against, Confluence Queens of Lokoja and Delta Queens.”
Ogbonda who once coached River Angels said that their match against Confluence Queen was very tough and thank God that they emerged victorious at the end.
He said his team would take every match as it come saying that they are sure of negotiating their way to the finals.
