Some traditional rulers in Ibadan on Monday commiserated with the Oyo State Government on the death of Michael Adeyemo, the Speaker, State House of Assembly.
They expressed their heartfelt sympathy during a visit to Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Ibadan monarchs were led by Oba Lekan Balogun, Otun-Olubadan.
Adeyemo, had on April 27 reported dead at the age of 47.
Balogun, who described the sudden death of the speaker as a great loss to the state, said: “We are very much grieved. We pray that God will grant his soul eternal rest and the family fortitude to bear the loss”.
Responding, Ajimobi thanked the monarchs for the visit, saying the late Adeyemo was very close to him.
He said: “Adeyemo was a patriotic, diligent and hardworking young man, who was committed to the progress of the state and the people.
“I have witnessed and read about many speakers in Oyo State. I have worked with two and heard about six, but without any equivocation, Adeyemo is the best.
“He is the best in terms of intellect, humility, integrity, knowledge. It is very painful that we lost him.
“We have to take solace in God. It is not how long but how well, Adeyemo has done well.”
NAN reports that those on the delegation were: Oba Owolabi Olakunlehin (Balogun), Oba Eddy Oyewole (Ashipa-Olubadan), Oba Amidu Ajibade (Ekaarun-Olubadan), Oba Lateef Adebimpe (Ashipa-Balogun) and Oba Kolawole Adegbola (Ekaarun-Balogun).
Meanwhile, Ademola Omiyale, the President, Yoruba Youth Council, also condoled with the state government on the demise of Adeyemo.
Omiyale, who described Adeyemo’s death as a great loss, prayed that God would grant his soul eterrnal rest.
