Alhaji Tunde Balogun, the newly elected chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, has promised to take the state’s chapter of the party to greater heights.
Balogun made the statement in Ikeja on Thursday during the inauguration of the 36-man state working committee of the party.
The new chairman said that he was irrevocably committed to sustaining the winning ways of the party.
He said that he would work with his team to take APC in Lagos state to a new level.
Balogun said members of the new SWC were capable, and driving the desired progress in the party would not be a problem.
He said: “I am irrevocably committed to taking the party to a new level in the state.
“With great commitment and my pedigree in governance and administration, this will be achieved by God’s grace.
“Also, members of the new executives are competent men and women, and I have no doubt that together we will take the party to greater heights.’’
Balogun urged all party members to give the new executives the needed support to achieve their vision for the party.
The chairman urged them to see the party as their project and also do their best to ensure its progress.
He also commended the outgoing party chairman in the state, Chief Henry Ajomale, for his achievements as a leader.
Balogun said that Ajomale deserved all the accolades for the enviable heights the party had attained in the state.
He recalled that the party had won all elections under Ajomale, and gave assurance that the momentum would not change under him.
Balogun promised to always seek Ajomale’s counsel in the course of doing his work, whenever necessary.
He said: “Also, I thank Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for what he has been doing for the party and the support he has given me.
“I thank him, I appreciate him and I want to assure him that I will not disappoint him.”
Balogun also thanked Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for his support for the party and his achievements in Lagos.
He said that Lagos had experienced phenomenal greatness under Ambode and the previous administrations.
Earlier, Ajomale who presided over the administration of oath on the new executives, thanked them for helping to grow the party.
He said: “I thank you for your cooperation and support, and for working with me as a family.
“I thank the God that we serve together. You didn’t impeach me. No vote of no confidence. We worked as a family.
“The same level of support you gave to me, I expect those of you who are still in the new exco to give the new administration.’’
