I take Indian hemp to relax, cool off – Seun Kuti

Seun Kuti, the last child of the late Afrobeat King, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, recently admitted in an open interview that he takes marijuana, otherwise known as Indian hemp, to relax and cool off.
The leader of the Fela’s Egypt 80 band, in his words, said: “Indian hemp should not be abused.
“It’s good for mankind.
“I take Igbo to relax and cool off.
“It is ideal to treat cancer, relieves pains, clears the head and relaxes the nerves.”
Kuti however queried why the government frowns at Indian hemp and declared it illegal.
He said: “Our government sees hemp as illegal because it’s a black man’s inheritance and not from white people.
“May be if it was from Europe, like cigarette, it would have been legalized.
“We are just fake people who don’t believe in our own abilities, but only rely on anything from the west.
“Our government should first provide me with the basic social amenities before telling me to stop smoking ‘igbo’ because I take it to reduce the psychological frustration I get from government’s inabilities.
“They are criticizing igbo, but there are many of them sniffing cocaine and other hard drugs.”
