Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator, Mark Angel has described 2024 as the most challenging year of his life, revealing that he lost $3.7 million in forex trading.
In a post on Instagram on Sunday, Mark Angel described how this loss led to one of the darkest times in his life.
The skit maker said the loss left him drowning in debt and grappling with immense personal and financial turmoil.
He felt like everything was falling apart, his properties were taken by loan sharks, and the pressure of debt made him feel hopeless.
“The year 2024 began like every other year, but I had no idea how much it would test me how much it would break me, yet ultimately reshape me. It was the year I lost everything,” he wrote.
“I trusted the wrong hands in forex and lost all my money. Nobody knew except my family and closest circle. The weight of the loss, over $3.7 million was suffocating.

“I was drowning in debts, and one by one, I watched all my properties slip into the hands of loan sharks. It felt like my world was crumbling, and in my darkest moments, I considered ending it all.
“But God…if not for His mercies, I wouldn’t be here writing this. He sent angels into my life when I needed them the most,” Mark wrote, reflecting on how divine intervention and support from loved ones helped him survive the ordeal.
He expressed gratitude for his close-knit support system which included friends, family, his pastor, ex-wife Mandy, daughters Victoria and Mila, his son Schoolboy and his social media assistant Bright.
Mark also shared that while he was healing through therapy, another setback came, a scandal that shook his career and made him realize who his real friends were.
He submitted that the experience exposed fake friends and pretenders but also brought him closer to God, taught him invaluable lessons in resilience, faith, and the essence of divine grace.
“2024 was the hardest year of my life, but it was also the year God drew me closer to Him. Through the ashes, He taught me resilience, faith, and the true meaning of grace. I don’t take it for granted that I’m alive today,” he wrote.
