The President of FIFA, Joseph Sepp Blatter, has called on the international media to verify their facts correctly and quell reports on the so-called friction between him and Portuguese captain, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Blatter, at a press conference at the Abu Dhabi’s Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium on Friday, said he has no known problem with the Real Madrid player and hence the press should not try to start one.
He urged the press to always be mindful of whatever they push through to the world.
The world football body’s helmsman says he remains a favourite of the 2008 World Player of the Year and that he would never say anything to slight his personality whether privately or otherwise.
He added that he would continue to appreciate the immense talent of the former Manchester United hit-man.
He said: “I will continue to appreciate Ronaldo. I will give him a handshake when we meet in Zurich later in the year and at any other gathering. The seeming problem is the making of the press. I don’t have problems with him.
“The press should stop creating a war where there is none. Ronaldo is football gift to the world.”
