Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have been plunged into mourning following the attack and eventual burning to death of an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Omale Isah, and a Police Constable, John Abuh, in Lokoja, Kogi State.
According to a police report sighted by The Eagle Online on Thursday, the incident happened on December 21, 2022.
The Police Patrol Team, attached to the ‘B’ Division, Felele, Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, was said to have been attacked while on patrol duty.
They team was ambushed as it arrived for the day’s duty when some armed gunmen emerged from behind them from the bush.
They shot sporadically at the policemen, led by Isah.
While two of them died, others sustained serious injuries.
Isah and Abuh were later burnt to ashes by the gunmen.
Following the attack, other police personnel were warned to be vigilant and at alert while carrying out their lawful duties.
They were also urged to ensure their safety and secure their weapons.
