The Nigerian Army has explained how a personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps was killed by armed bandits in Zamfara State.
The explanation was contained in a statement by the spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Sani Usman.
Usman said troops of the 223 Battalion, 1 Division Nigerian Army on Thursday thwarted efforts of suspected armed bands that besieged Tsafe, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State to cause mayhem.
He said the troops on receipt of information about the presence of the armed bandits, mobilized immediately and moved to the area.
They killed one of the armed bandits and recovered two AK-47 rifles, six magazines and seven motorcycles.
However, a personnel of Federal Safety Corps was killed by the marauders before the arrival of the troops.
