Hike In Contract Variation: Jigawa terminates contract, re-awards Hadejia Specialist Hospital project

Jigawa state government has terminated the contracts of Hadejia Specialist Hospital earlier awarded at the sum of N1.8b to Philko Construction Firm and re-awarded to Kanadhir Global at N690.4b

The reasons for withdrawal by Philko, checks showed, was due to hike in contracts variations, situations which for quite often the firm approached jigawa state government for contracts review due to hike in contracts variations, but the state government declined, issues unable by Phiko Construction to complete the projects successfully on schedule.

Still, the firm was able to execute 56 per cent work valued at N414652,821,63 k as at 22 of July, 2022, and later Philko resolved to withdrawn self from such project’s, situation which warrant jigawa state government to terminate the contracts, and re-award it to another firm for completion.

The Hadejia Specialist Hospital was initially awarded to Philko Construction on  the 16 August, 2017 by the jigawa state government at a cost of N1,593,314,294.25k, and later reversed to the tune of N1,867,953,470.57 k an increased of N274,639,176,32k on contractual agreement to complete both phase one and two of the hospital within two years.

The contract was later terminated on the 24 of November,2022 and re-awarded to Ganan Constructions Company due to default of Philko in meeting up the contractual agreement as reasons for the termination  of the contract.

It was gathered that out of the N1.8b contracts of the Hadejia hospital awarded to Philko the firm was able to execute 76 per cent work completion  valued at N1.456,779,763.99

The phase two of the hospital was later re-awarded to Kanadhir Global Links Limited on the 6/6/2022 at N662,154,715.613 k. The phase 11 consist of staff quarters, and external work awarded on the 17/06/2022 at N248,325,421.94 k at 54 per cent contract completion at 30/8/2022 in two months.

The external work comprises road network and parkings awarded to Ganan Construction Limited on the 18/06/2021 at N690,444,421.63 k. Presently the firm has executed 65 per cent work completion valued at N446,156,104.08 k as at 10/10/2022
