Hearts manager, Craig Levein, was taken to hospital on Monday morning but is recovering well after receiving treatment, the Scottish Premiership club said.
The club did not disclose the illness or when the 53-year old was likely to return.
“Having received medical treatment, Craig is now recovering well in hospital.
“No further comment will be made at this time and the club asks that Craig and his family’s privacy be respected, as we all wish him a speedy recovery,” the club said in a statement.
Levein watched Hearts beat Kilmarnock 1-0 in the league on Saturday to keep up their 100 per cent start to the campaign after three matches.
He was appointed as Hearts manager on a three-year contract in August last year.
