Seven policemen were killed and many civilians injured when gunmen opened fire on them in Abuja on Monday night.
The incident happened at Galadimawa roundabout, a suburb in Abuja.
According to eyewitness report, the alleged armed men were stopped for search by the police when they opened fire on the policemen which led to the death of seven while one was seriously injured.
Many pedestrians and traders around the roundabout ran for safety during the gun duel while many sustained injuries.
According to the eyewitness, this led to the deployment of more policemen to the community which is close to the ever busy Airport Road.
The Eagle Online reports that the people of Galadimawa have been complaining of lack of the high rate of arm robbery in their community.
The Police in Abuja confirmed the incident and they assured that the culprits will be brought to book.
