Two persons were reportedly shot dead by unknown attackers at Rafin Bwaunan Noma community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, sources told The Eagle Online.
Malam Yusuf Usman, who is also the community leader, told The Eagle Online in a telephone conversation that the attackers “came in from Gero, a neighbouring community of Jos South Local Government Area, in the early hours of today (Sunday)”.
Usman said the killers attacked his people while they were working on their farms.
He said they surrounded and fired gunshots on them.
According to him, two persons were killed.
He said they were a male and female.
Usman said one of those killed was beheaded.
He gave the name of the victim beheaded as Abdullahi Hassan, 41, while the girl’s name was given as Hannatu Safiyanu, 14.
“As we are now talking with you, some of the security that are deployed are trying to take the corpses of the deceased,” he added.
Usman said the attackers have also exchanged fire with men of the Special Task Force, who repelled them.
The STF Media/Information Officer, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, confirmed the incident.
Iweha said it was a case of armed robbery.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Plateau State, ASP Abu Emmanuel, said he was not aware of the development.
Emmanuel added: “But I will make enquiries from the Divisional Police Officer and before evening time, I will get back to you.”
