A Mobile Force Policeman, Yusuf Hadi, has been shot dead by gunmen along the Ogun waterways.
Hadi, until his death, was attached to Mopol 43, which is based in Lagos State.
The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.
Badmos said: “The mobile police officer was on his way to Lagos on Monday morning, to resume at his base when he was shot by some suspected hoodlums onboard a boat at Totowu Waterways, Ogun State.”
She said Hadi’s remains had been deposited at Crest Hospital Mortuary, Isuti Road, Igando, Lagos State, adding: “The Lagos State Command would partner the Ogun Command to get to root of the murder.”
In another development, a Police Sergeant attached to Alausa Police Division, Godspower Okoro, has been been found dead in his house.
Okoro until his death was residing at 10 Bale Street, Ojodu, Lagos State.
Badmos said there was no mark of violence on the body of the deceased.
She added: “Detectives from Ojodu Police Station went to remove his corpse and later deposited it at Mainland General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.”
