Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has lavished praise on 17-year-old central defender Eric García for stopping Kelechi Iheanacho in a League Cup tie on Tuesday.
Leicester City lost 3-1 to the Premier League champions on penalties following a 1-1 draw at King Power Stadium.
Iheanacho did not have a great game with only one attempted shot and 18 touches of the ball, and was replaced with nine minutes remaining.
”He has good vision, a good pass. It’s incredible, I’m very pleased. He didn’t make one mistake and with the ball he played with huge personality,” Guardiola told reporters post-match.
”It’s not easy with [Demarai] Gray, Kele [Iheanacho] and [James] Maddison.
”It’s a big important event. I’m so delighted with his performance.”
December 22 will make it three months Iheanacho last scored in a competitive game for club and country and he appears to be lacking in confidence at the moment.
