The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, spends over N2.4 billion annually to fuel generators that power street lights in the state.
Ganduje’s media aide, Salihu Tanko Yakassai, made this known via his Twitter handle when one of his follower queried him over the blackout that had been the lot of the streets in recent times.
Yakassai replied to the tweet: “The cost of fuelling them is too high over N200Million monthly and as such the state govt is changing the bulbs to energy saving to bring down the cost to about N50Million.
“All these is temp measure before the completion of the power project which will power the streetlights.”
