The Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, has warned those printing and placing his posters for 2019 election in some parts of the state to desist from doing so, positing that such act contravenes the people-oriented nature of his government.
The Commissioner of Information, Jonathan Vatsa, in a statement in Minna reaffirmed that the Governor and the entire government of Niger State are dissociating themselves from such outright contraventions that are not in the character of the administration in the state.
Vatsa stated that Bello believes seriously in rule of law and will not support the placing of posters in the form of campaign in the state when the Independent National Electoral Commission, the body constitutionally empowered to give such go ahead, has not done so.
The Commissioner noted that rationally the Governor is preoccupied in delivering to the people his campaign promises, leveraging on the restoration agenda of change to the people and will not encourage such distraction for now.
According to Vatsa: “The government has well articulated restoration agenda on Education through the whole school approach, Infrastructural development by providing good roads, Health care delivery, Agricultural development, youth and women empowerment and many other sectors, the people can see the revolutions in these sectors and this is not the time for Mr Governor to be distracted by such politicking and we dissociate ourselves from it.”
Vatsa reiterated that the Governor believes that leadership at every level has divine purpose, which is holistic service to the people and for the people, hence all programmes of the administration have always been through engagement with Nigerlites in a robust social contract as permitted within the armpit of democracy.
Vatsa therefore noted that such act may not be far from the handiwork of mischief makers or/and that of unsolicited work of spin doctors who seems to have missed the point of the people oriented nature of the administration of Bello.
He therefore advised all Nigerlites to disregard such posters that have no bearing with the governor’s effort in delivering on his mandate to them and for the good of Niger State, saying that Bello is working and does not need any distraction.
