The Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Tanko Al’makura, has dismissed widespread speculations making the rounds in the polity of the state that he intends dumping the Congress for Progressive Change, on which platform he was elected, for his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party.
In a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Iliya Aliyu Yakubu, Al’makura described the widespread speculation as the handiwork of the opposition.
He said the rumour was spurious.
According to Iliya, the governor has ruled out the possibility of defecting from the CPC to the PDP.
The governor was quoted as saying: “I am commited to the CPC and over my dead body will I leave the CPC.”
Al’makura is the only governor elected on the platform of the CPC.
