Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has commended the Judiciary for reinstating Eyitayo Jegede as the PDP candidate for Ondo State governorship election slated for November 26.
This is contained in a statement signed by Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the governor and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.
Wike advised Nigerians not to lose hope in the judiciary no matter the level of attacks on judicial officers by the powers that be.
He added that no matter the level of intimidation by the powers that be, there are resilient judicial officers, who would always enthrone the rule of law in the country.
The governor urged the people of Ondo State to vote massively for Eyitayo Jegede to enable him continue with the ‘giant developmental strides’ of outgoing Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
Wike said: “I wish Eyitayo Jegede the PDP candidate, the best in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
“Ondo people know that Eyitayo Jegede is their candidate and only hope to continue the good works of Governor Mimiko.
“There have been pressures to make sure PDP scatters so that at the end of the day, PDP will not have a candidate in Ondo state.
“The Judiciary is the last hope of the common man and they have justified it today; we believe that PDP has come to stay and the party will be more united.”
