The people of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State have been encouraged not to allow anything that would undermine the enduring peace being enjoyed in the area.
Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State made the call on Tuesday in continuation of his thank you visit to local governments areas in the state.
He said the visit was to encourage the people to live peacefully and cooperate with the government to enable it actualize its laudable plans for them.
The visit on Tuesday took the governor and his entourage to Kanam, Wase, Langtang North and Kanke local areas, where he also commissioned some abandoned projects initiated by previous administrations but completed, renovated and furnished by the transition management committee in the state.
The governor commended local administrations for living up to the manifesto of the All Progressives Congress andPresident Mohammedu Buhari’s desire to ensuring that ongoing projects initiated by previous administrations are completed before new ones are embarked upon.
He reiterated the Federal Government’s renewed vigour to diversify the nation’s economy through agriculture.
He said Kanke Local Government, which is the headquarters of solid minerals in the state, stands a better chance becoming a resource control centre when the Federal Government’s policy on transformation of agriculture and mineral fully takes off.
Given the synopsis of some of the projects in his area, the Chairman of the Management Committee of Wase Local Government Area, Dr. Ado Buba, said the new secretariat was initiated by the previous administration, while the ICT centre was initiated in 2009, but abandoned.
The new management team completed and furnished it.
The Chairman of Kanke Local Government Area, Panshak Yohanna, said the administration embarked of rural electrification of over three communities at a cost of over N12 million.
Yohanna said the aim is to boost the revenue base of the area.
The management committee Chairman of Kanam Local Government Area, Isa Hashimu, has appealed to the people of the area to guard the projects jealously so that they will be able to utilize the maximum benefits associated with them.
