Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has approved further relaxation of the curfew imposed on the Jos-Bukuru metropolis.
In a statement on Thursday in Jos, Lalong said the curfew would start from midnight and end at 6am daily with effect from Thursday.
He said in the statement signed by the state Director of Press and Public Affairs, Emmanuel Nanle: “Having considered further the steady improvement in security within Jos-Bukuru metropolis since the imposition of a dusk-to-dawn curfew, the governor has approved a further relaxation of the curfew.
“This will take effect from Thursday, September 21, 2017.”
The governor thanked all law-abiding citizens and stakeholders in the peace process in the metropolis.
The state government had imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in metropolis following the September 14 skirmishes that resulted in the death of two persons.
The curfew is to forestall breakdown of law and order.
The government on Sunday reviewed the curfew downward to start from 10pm and end at 6am daily.
Lalong called on all communities to sustain vigilance and intensify policing.
Lalong said security operatives in the state remained committed to ensuring law and order.
According to him, intensive patrol and policing in areas of concern within the metropolis are being would sustained.
