The Independent National Electoral Commission has insisted that Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed cannot be removed as Kwara South Senatorial District candidate for the 2019 election.
The Peoples Democratic Party had written the INEC substituting Ahmed’s name with those of the incumbent, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim.
But when the list of candidates was released last week, Ibrahim’s name was missing, with Ahmed listed.
However, a Commissioner of INEC, Festus Okoye, said the electoral body had no choice but to accept Ahmed as senatorial candidate.
Okoye made this known on a Channels Television programme: “Politics today.”
According to him: “Governor Ahmed is the PDP senatorial candidate for Kwara South.
“It is only death that can replace his name on the list.”
