Vee Communications, a media investor group, has confirmed its takeover of the publication of Nigerian Compass newspaper titles.
The acquisition of the publishing rights to Compass Newspaper by the new firm, led by Segun Oyebolu, a magnate with varied business interests within and outside Nigeria, was completed to add fresh touch to the business of news reporting in Nigeria.
The new Compass newspaper will hit newsstands across the country on April 7, 2014.
The refocused newspaper will ensure maximum returns to its business advertisers while providing “esteemed readers with daily, unbiased news and reports around the country, Africa and the rest of the World,” a statement has said.
The newspaper, in line with its core non-partisan, fiercely independent editorial board will give Nigerians a balanced forum that will be extensively open to all shades of opinion, the statement said further.
It added: “The paper will benefit greatly from the tremendous technology expertise of its new investors and blaze a new trail in balanced, un-influenced news reporting in Nigeria providing the needed platform for those passionate about the welfare of the Nigerian State and its citizens.”
