Former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has promised the people of the state, especially civil servants, better days ahead when the Peoples Democratic Party presidential and governorship candidates are elected into office in this year’s election.
The former governor disclosed this during the nationwide campaign for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan organised by the Women for Change project of the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, on Tuesday.
Daniel reiterated the commitment of the party in ensuring a women inclusive government, while berating the Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led administration in Ogun State for its lackadaisical attitude towards the welfare of the civil servants and the people of the state in general.
He said: “When we were in government, we saw the need to provide low-cost housing for civil servants in Ogun State and we did that through the Laderin Workers Estate, which we gave to civil servants at N900,000 each.
“But this administration in its attempt to hoodwink the people, constructed its workers’ estate and awarded it to civil servants at a whooping N25 million each.
“How can the civil servants who have been denied their basic entitlements and welfare and salaries afford the deposit for this property not to talk of paying N25 million for a low-cost house.”
Speaking on the demolition of properties, Daniel stated that the PDP government will ensure that it rebuilds all properties destroyed by the present administration once it gets into power.
The First Lady, who was represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Aminat Nnamadi Sambo, thanked the people for their continuous support for President Jonathan and the party, promising that women will forever be well represented in the Goodluck/Sambo-led government.
The event was attended by the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Prince Gboyega Isiaka; the state party Chairman Bayo Dayo; and former Deputy Governor, Alhaja Salimot Badru, among numerous others.
