An aspirant for the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the ninth National Assembly, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has lobbied Hon. Mohammed Bago to drop his ambition.
Bago, who hails from Niger State, is contesting against Gbajabiamila for the speakership.
They both belong to the All Progressives Congress.
However, the leadership of the party, backed by both President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, have announced the zoning of the speaker’s seat to the South West.
Negotiating on behalf of Gbajabiamila with Bago, Hon. Abdumumin Jibrin, who is the Director General of Gbajabiamila Campaign Organisation, said he has met with Bago to lobby him.
According to Jibrin: “Today in my capacity as DG of our campaign council, I visited my bosom friend Hon Mohd Bago in continuation of our lobby and consultation. We will continue to engage.
“Ealier, we addressed a press conference on the state of our campaign attended by some returning and new members elect.”
