Gay marriage, new doctrine to Catholic, says Bishop Kaigama

The President of the Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria and the Catholic Archbishop of Jos, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, has reiterated that it is shameful, barbaric and madness on the part of those calling for same sex marriage.

Kaigama said the Bishop’s Forum in Nigeria has taken a stand to resist what he described as “unGodly and evil for anybody to abandon what God has put together since creation”.

Archbishop Kaigama disclosed this during the 13th General Assembly of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos, with the theme: “Pastoral challenges to the family in the context of evangelism.”

It was held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday.

He said the culture of same sex marriage is new to the Catholic faith, “so we are not in support and there is no shaking on our stand to renounce it”.

The Archbishop called on Christians in Nigeria to enshrine biblical reading and invest more in the religious life of their family.
