Players and officials of Gateway Football Club of Ogun State were this morning involved in an auto crash.
The Eagle Online learnt that one person died while five were seriously injured in the crash, which occurred at about 10am.
According to ex-international, Taju Disu, the driver of a space bus in company with his mother, wife and new born baby lost control of his vehicle when he had a burst tyre.
This led to a head-on collision with the bus in which the Gateway FC players and officials were travelling.
The mother of the driver of the space bus died while the Coach of Gateway FC, Philip Boamah, and five others sustained injuries.
The injured were taken to the General Hospital in Ado-Ekiti.
It was learnt that the Ogun State Government has dispatched ambulances to ferry the injured back to the state for further treatment.
The accident occurred shortly after the team left Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, where the team on Sunday defeated Ila FC 1-0 at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium.
This was in a National League match.
