A terrifying ordeal occurred in Lagos sometime in March when a man held down a man and raped him, a police prosecutor told an Abule Egba Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The prosecutor, Inspector Rachael Williams, alleged that the accused had drugged his victim before raping him.
“When the complainant woke up, his anus was paining him and there was some left-over semen in it,” Williams said.
The accused, 38-year-old Sali Malu, a gatekeeper, lives at 31, Peace Estate, Ipaja, a suburb of Lagos.
Malu is facing a two-count charge of sexual assault and causing a breach of peace.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge of raping a fellow gatekeeper (names withheld) and breach of peace.
Williams said the offences were committed on March 23 in the house of the accused.
She said: “The complainant (names withheld), who is also a gatekeeper in the estate, went to the room of the accused to charge his phone.
“The accused gave him food to eat.
“The man did not know that the food had been laced with drug.
“After eating the food, he slept off only to wake up to the reality that he had been raped.”
The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravenes Section 166 (d) and 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Ruling on the bail application of the accused, the Magistrate, Tajudeen Elias, granted the accused a bail of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case has been adjourned to May 5 for mention.
