No fewer than 62 graduands out of the 3,741 graduating students of the 2016/2017 academic session of the Federal University of Technology, Minna will bag first class.
Making this known on Thursday at a press briefing on the occasion of the 27th convocation ceremony of the school, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, said in the last set, only 34 first class was recorded.
Bala disclosed: “A total of 3,096 graduands will receive First degrees, while 426 will be awarded Masters Degrees, 46 others will bag PhDs and another 173 to be awarded postgraduate diplomas.
“Among the first degree category, which is classified, 62 are First class, 1,006 in Second class upper division, 1,526 in Second class lower division, 468 in Third class, while 34 are with Pass degrees.”
The VC further disclosed that the graduating number is an improvement over last year’s figures of 549 and 70 respectively in the latter two categories.
