The full video of the World Press conference held by the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday over the invasion and blockade of the National Assembly by the operatives of the Department of State Services is now available on YouTube.
Saraki addressed the World Press Conference alongside the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara.
Several members of the House of Representatives and senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party were at the news conference.
Presidential Spokesman during the regime of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Dr. Doyin Okupe, was also at the conference.
Saraki slated the World Press Conference shortly after the DSS operatives vacated the premises of the National Assembly.
Saraki, who was hailed by workers and lawmakers as he arrived the National Assembly complex on Tuesday, had for company the Deputy President of the Senate, Dr. Ike Ekweremadu; Deputy Senate Minority Whip, Abiodun Olujimi; and over 50 senators and members of the House of Representatives.
He told the World Press Conference on Wednesday that what took place on Tuesday was a coup against the legislative arm of government.
He accused the Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari of having a government within government.
However, the Presidency has responded to the occurrence in the National Assembly, saying it was a plot hatched by Saraki in connivance with the sacked Director General of the DSS, Lawal Daura, to prevent the impeachment of the Senate president by lawmakers who belong to the All Progressives Congress.
The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who summoned Daura and the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, while the siege was on, ordered the immediate sack and arrest of the erstwhile Director General of the DSS.
