The Sector Commander, FRSC Lagos Corps , Olusegun Ogungbemide, says motorcycle, tricycles and dispatch riders operating in Lagos must obtain the “approved Nigeria Driver’s Licence Class A” or stay off the roads.
Ogungbemide made the declaration flowing a meeting held with the Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA), where it was agreed that riders should get Class A category of driver’s licence.
The FRSC boss said in a statement by the FRSC Public Education Officer, Olabisi Sonusi, that this, however, does not negate the Rider’s Card being put in place by the state government for administrative/record purpose.
“Riders are, therefore, advised to visit FRSC driver’s licence centres closest to them to avoid being arrested by law enforcement agencies,” he warned.
Ogungbemide noted that there are over 23 driver’s licence centres and 29 workstations at different locations across the state, hence no excuse for failure to obtain the licence.
He stated that anyone apprehended for driver’s licence violation would be issued a fine for driving without a valid licence and be sanctioned in line with the National Road Traffic Regulations.
Meanwhile, he restated that all restricted routes for motorcycles, tricycles and dispatch riders as stipulated by the state government are to be strictly adhered to.
