Wilfred Ndidi said he was impressed by the spirit the Leicester side showed during Saturday’s 2-1 FA Cup win at Everton.
The Nigerian joined the club last Tuesday for a reported £17 from Belgian outfit Genk and was handed a surprise debut in the third-round tie at Goodison Park, starting alongside Danny Drinkwater and Nampalys Mendy in the centre of midfield.
After a mixed first half, the Foxes fell behind to a Romelu Lukaku goal on 63 minutes but bounced back thanks to a quickfire brace from Ahmed Musa and held on to book their place in Monday’s fourth-round draw.
Leicester have largely struggled since winning the Premier League title last season but Ndidi admits he was delighted by the fight his team-mates showed during their trip to Merseyside.
The 20-year-old is confident they can now move up and away from the relegation places and has promised to do all he can to contribute to their collective effort.
“We showed great spirit,” he told the club’s official website.
“With this fight, I think we can do well.
“The group performance is more important than my performance. I always hope the group can perform, then look at my performance.”
