An Upper Area Court in Mararaba, Nasarawa State on Friday remanded four persons in prison for allegedly kidnapping a three-month-old baby.
They are Salom Zakariya,Cleteus Gabriel, Destiny Chimezie and Shamsiya Tijani, all of Mararaba.
The police prosecutor, Corporal Steven Kwaza, told the court that one Innocent Mgbado reported the matter at the Sani Abacha Road Police Station on May 24.
Kwaza said: “The four accused persons conspired and aided one Melody, whose surname is still unknown, to kidnap Wonderful Innocent, a baby girl.
“The baby, belonging to the complainant, was kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination.”
The police prosecutor added that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 97, 85 and 273 of the Penal Code, but the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The presiding judge, Vincent Gwahemba, ordered them to be remanded in prison and adjourned the case to June 19 for hearing.
