The Chairman of Ajoni Local Council Development Area of Ekiti State, Michael Ogungbemi, says four people suspected of killing an Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Segun Ayebulu, and abducting his family members have been arrested.
The Local Government Development Area Chairman revealed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti.
Ogungbemi that the suspects were arrested by Ajoni community vigilante group, code named: “Operation Eradicate Bandits.”
The chairman said members of the vigilante group arrested the suspects while on patrol along the border between Ekiti and Kwara States.
According to him, the suspects have allegedly confessed to killing the NSCDC officer and kidnapping his family members.
Ogungbemi said that two AK47 riffles were recovered from the suspects, who are being detained at Ikole Ekiti Police Station.
NAN reports that Ayebulu was shot dead by gunmen on September 3, 2022 along Oke-Ako-Irele-Ekiti Road while driving home to Kogi State with some members of his family.
