Lagos popular business mogul, Chief Adebola Adegunwa, otherwise known as Fototek, has given an impromptu quit notice to the management of the Lagos State University, as it affects his building on Nathan Street, Off Olufemi Street, Ojuelegba, Lagos.
Sources said the popular high society man has even given a three months grace to the school’s management to pack their belongings and students from his N100 million mansion on the highbrow Western Avenue.
However, a lot of people are amazed that a high calibre man such as Adegunwa could change his mind just like that on a property he has since 2001 donated to the school as his own personal contribution to the development of education in Lagos State.
This was during the era of the late Prof. Fatiu Ademola Akesode as the Vice Chancellor of the university.
LASU runs its mass communication degree program me from the building.
Competent sources disclosed that Adegunwa gave out the N100 million building to the late professor as a gift.
The Fototek boss, it was learnt, gave the building, with C of O and all the necessary documents, to the late professor.
He wanted him to convert the building to his (Akesode’s) private hospital.
But Akesode reportedly declined, pleading that it should be given to LASU for the mass communication course.
Pressure was even mounted on the late professor by relations and friends to accept the building for his own use but he remained adamant and he did not rest until he got Adegunwa to donate the building to LASU.
While some have said the reason behind Adegunwa’s move to reclaim the building was that he is broke, others believe it is just because he wants to use it personally.
