Former Ghanaian President, John Mahama, will on April 16 deliver a keynote address at the Lagos State Tourism Summit at which stakeholders will make contributions toward the state tourism master plan.
Steve Ayorinde, the state Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.
He said that the master plan would be unveiled in May in efforts to transform the cultural and artistic landscape of the state.
Ayorinde said that the summit would have the theme: “Destination Lagos Towards a Sustainable Tourism-driven Economy’’.
The official said that the summit, to hold in Lagos, would provide an opportunity for tourism stakeholders to contribute to the master plan.
According to him, the summit will feature paper presentations on tourism and engage practitioners, scholars, entertainers and media professionals.
He told NAN that the summit would go a long way to chart a way forward for tourism in Lagos.
He said: “This strategic intervention did not happen by accident; it has been a deliberate plan.
“It will encourage practitioners and stakeholders with institutional support and sustain the hope of investors in the sector.’’
The commissioner said that preparations for the unveiling of the master plan had reached advanced stage although the actual date had yet to be determined.
Ayorinde said that the unveiling would increase exposure of the tourism and culture potential of Lagos State.
