An early morning fire at the Dugbe branch of Zenith Bank in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Thursday disrupted human and vehicular traffic.
The fire, which occurred at about 8.05am after staff of the bank had concluded their morning meeting, attracted a crowd.
The fire, which also attracted a large number of policemen, civil defence corps personnel and the bank’s security men, was quickly put under control by fire fighters.
Policemen were seen diverting traffic from Dugbe ‘G’ Allen to Dugbe Ring Road as the fire fighters truck blocked access to the road leading to Cocoa House.
Bisi Ilobanafor, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident.
Ilobanafor said: “I can confirm to you that there was a fire outbreak at Dugbe Zenith Bank branch on Thursday morning, but I cannot say if there was any major damage.”
She, however, promised to make public details of the incident as soon as investigation was concluded.
