The Federal Fire Service on Wednesday put out fire that engulfed the top floor of a shopping plaza at Area 10 in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Property worth millions of naira were destroyed in the inferno.
Biodun Obisesan, the Public Relations Officer of the fire service, said the fire was caused by short circuit in the electrical system.
Obisesan said the fire started from the roof of the four story warehouse, which held photographic materials/equipment and chemicals used in producing pictures.
He said the fire started at about 6pm but that they received phone call at 7p.m.
He added: “Yet, we were able to contain the fire.”
Obisesan said the service, the Nigerian Airforce Fire Service, the FCT Fire Service and Julius Berger Fire Service responded to the distress call.
