FIFA has stripped Peru of the 2019 U-17 World Cup hosting rights, citing concerns about the infrastructures.
The 2019 U-17 World Cup tournament is expected to hold from October 5 to 27, 2019.
“After several FIFA inspection visits and meetings with the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), and taking into account various issues related to the organization and infrastructure,” a statement on FIFA official website stated.
“That affect the proper conduct of the tournament, the FIFA Council Bureau has decided that the FIFA U-17 World Cup will not be played in Peru.
“FIFA wishes to express its gratitude to the FPF and the Peruvian authorities for their efforts, and expresses its openness to organizing a tournament in Peru in the future.
“FIFA is evaluating various alternatives regarding the appointment of the new host country of the competition. Additional details will be communicated by FIFA in due time.”
England are the reigning U17 World champion.
