The world football-governing body, FIFA has expressed satisfaction with steps taken by the parties concerned in the Nigeria Football Federation crisis to normalise situation.
In a letter addressed to NFF President, Aminu Maigari, dated September 9, 2014 and signed by Secretary General, Jerome Valcke, FIFA, noted that the factional NFF President, Chris Giwa, has vacated office and the management is now operating unhindered.
However, the Secretary General warned that should any interference be noticed thereafter, it will place suspension on the federation without recourse to appropriate FIFA body until next general congress.
According to FIFA, “We now expect the NFF Executive Committee to meet as soon as possible in order to convene an extraordinary general assembly to decide on the roadmap leading to the elections, which should be open to all persons complying with the NFF statutes and regulations
“We would also inform you that should the electoral process be affected by any interference or mishap, the case would be referred – and without prior notice or warning – to the appropriate FIFA bodies for immediate suspension of the NFF until the next FIFA congress,” the letter reads in part.
NFF General Secretary, Musa Amadu, had at the close of work on Monday, wrote to FIFA to confirm that he has resumed work and could now work unhindered.
It will be recalled that FIFA, had in a letter sent to the NFF on September 3, threatened to sanction Nigeria should Giwa fail to vacate office latest by September 8, 2014.
