The World football governing body, FIFA, has congratulated Super Falcons on their qualification for the 2019 Women World Cup in France.
Nigeria battled their way into the Final of the 11th Africa Women Cup of Nations after a 4-2 penalty shootout defeat of Cameroon following a scoreless 120 minutes attrition in Accra on Tuesday.
The feat also guaranteed that Nigeria will maintain her record of appearing at every edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, when the world’s best teams gather in France next year summer.
“Nigeria is the 1st African team qualified for the 2019,” the governing body tweeted via its official twitter handle @FIFAWWC.
The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Sakari, also hit the Twitter to salute the girls for doggedness and making the country proud.
“Congratulations to our @NGSuper_Falcons on their qualification to the France 2019 Women’s World Cup. We look forward to celebrating more victories with you. Keep making us proud!,” Saraki tweeted.
The final match of the competition is slated for Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
