Feyenoord Rotterdam’s Soccer Schools handler, Michael Obiku, has set his sight on the national team job, saying he would be ready to accept the offer to glory.
Obiku, who is in the country for a coaching clinic, made the disclosure on Tuesday.
According to him, Nigeria needs the technical expertise to compete with other world football powers at the global stage.
“Of course, I will be ready to serve at the national team level if the opportunity comes but Nigeria must be ready to put in place all the necessary tools to function effectively,” he pointed out.
On the Super Eagles chances of qualifying for major tournaments, Obiku, who also played for Dutch champions, Feyenoord, advised the technical crew to adopt a playing style that would suit the team.
He said: “Those days, we play 4-3-3 but now it is difficult to understand Nigeria’s style of play and it is causing the country a lot. So it is better to adopt and sustain the formation because the coach can only have few training sessions before the game.”
The forward represented the Nigeria at the 1988 African Cup of Nations in Morocco.
