The Chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, Engr. Jide Adeniji, was given an Award of Infrastructural Leadership in Infrastructural Development in the nation on December 25, 2012 by the Zone ‘B’ division of the National Association of Women Journalists.
The award was presented to Adeniji in his country home, Ila-Orangun by the Zone ‘B’ Chairman of NAWOJ, Alhaja Balikis Oladimeji, for his meritorious services and persistent efforts in putting federal roads across the nation in good shape.
Oladimeji said Zone ‘B’ division of NAWOJ comprises five states in the South West and that the excos in those states, which are Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and Kwara, reached a consensus that the award be given to Adeniji after scaling his readiness to development.
Oladimeji, in company with the Osun State chapter of NAWOJ, described Adeniji as an illustrious person that has done well in the area of infrastructural development far and wide the nation, a situation that was said to have earned him the award.
Buttressing what Oladimeji posited, the Osun State chairman of NAWOJ, Mrs. Sola Jacobs, who described the award as non-political, said it was a pointer to Adeniji’s leadership quality and commitment to national development.
She maintained that Adeniji does not see himself as an Ila indigene alone, but always sees himself as a Nigerian, which is a testimonial to his achievements across the nation, having checked the period he just spent as FERMA Chairman.
Jacobs said: “We know that you have done well to have counted worthy of the award.
“We will not hesitate as well to implore you to ensure that our major roads are given a befitting repair, especially where you come from, which is Osun State.
“Some of the roads in the state are begging for your attention.”
In his reaction, Adeniji described journalists as people who keep the government on its toes whenever there is a hitch.
He therefore thanked the members of the NAWOJ for counting him worthy of the award among many people in the state.
Adeniji assured members of NAWOJ that he will never leave any stone unturned, adding that his office was on course in its quest to develop, rehabilitate and reconstruct all the federal roads across the state, saying he would live up to the expectation of the people of the nation concerning good roads.
Adeniji therefore commended NAWOJ for the job well done and pledged his support for the journalists and NAWOJ in particular at all time.
He also advised journalists to always make the constructive reportage their watchword.
He said: “I want to thank you for the award you gave me.
“I am highly honoured and I want to assure you that whatever you are doing.
“I will be part of it.
“And I have noted all the areas you mentioned and amendment will take place.
“Also, I want you to be reporting what is on ground at often time.”
