The Federal Capital Territory Administration on Friday gave the National Defence College, Abuja two years ultimatum to complete and move to its permanent site at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway, Airport Road, Abuja.
The FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, gave the order when the Commandant of the college, Rear Admiral Patrick Agholor, visited him in his office in Abuja.
Mohammed described the continuous stay of the college in the heart of the Federal Capital City as unacceptable, considering the nature of its activities.
He urged the college authorities to accelerate the development of its permanent site in conformity with the expectations of the Abuja Master Plan.
The minister said citing the premier military institution in the territory added value to the city, especially with the security challenges in some parts of the country.
Mohammed promised to assist the college to talk to the minister of defence to make necessary budgetary provision to complete the permanent site.
He revealed that in tune with the monetisation policy of the government, the houses earlier given to the college to be used as participant dormitory would be sold to deserving Nigerians.
Earlier, the commandant had told the minister that the visit was to officially notify him of his resumption as the new helmsman of the college.
He said the college would soon commence its Course 22 programme.
