Senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday asked the Federal Government to set up a panel of enquiry to investigate the alleged molestation of the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose by security agents.
The PDP Senators, led by the Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, while addressing newsmen, condemned the alleged attack on Fayose.
According to Akpabio, the molestation of Fayose violates the immunity clause as enshrined in the constitution for a sitting governor.
He added that the Executive should ensure that anyone found culpable of molesting Fayose should be punished under the law of the land.
The Caucus also implored the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to desist from being partisan in next Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State.
According to the Caucus: @We calling on INEC and security agencies not to be partial because this is a litmus test for 2019 elections.”
The caucus also set up a five-man Committee to investigate and make an informed decision on what happened in Ekiti State on Wednesday.
