The Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, on Tuesday embarrassed the Plateau State Governor, Da Jonah Jang, while denigrating the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari.
Fayose spoke at an interactive session between members of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum and the media.
The civil society was also represented at the event.
Fayose, justifying why Buhari (73) was not fit for the presidency, said the APC presidential candidate was the age of his mum, who is 74, adding: “Some people who are 70 now use pampers because they cannot control themselves.”
Realising a little late that Jang, who was seated directly behind him was over 70, Fayose quickly apologised.
He, however, went ahead with his speech.
Fayose had started by appealing to the press to assist in deepening democracy in Nigeria.
He said most of those who own media houses in Nigeria are politicians.
He said despite this, there was the need to be just, fair and equitable.
He said the certificate issue surrounding Buhari should not be covered up.
He also said Buhari told lies about the venue of an interview he had before travelling to London and that his first port of call when he arrived in the United Kingdom was an hospital whose address he has.
He said it was not certain if Buhari flew out of the country via a conventional aircraft or was ferried out with an air ambulance.
Fayose said Buhari was too old to govern, adding that at his age, there are illnesses and challenges that come with age.
He said Buhari spoke for just 57 minutes throughout his campaign, adding: “So he will end up as a shield to those who want to corner the wealth of Nigeria.
“Nigerians must vote for people with vigour.”
