Ayodele Fayose, a former governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Ekiti State gubernatorial election, has appealed to the people of the state to vote massively for his party during the June 21, 2014 election.
Fayose promised to improve on his performance during his first tenure, adding that he would put in place policies and programmes that would promote socio-economic and political development of the state.
The PDP candidate made this known in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday when the party supporters were welcoming him back to the state.
He said that the “tumultuous” crowd that came to welcome him back home was an indication that he was a man of the people and grassroots politician.
Fayose said he went to Abuja to collect his certificate of return as the PDP bonafide candidate for the June 21 governorship election in the state.
He disclosed that President Goodluck Jonathan would be in the state in two weeks time to affirm his candidature as well as inaugurate his campaign office.
Fayose, who had been in Abuja since his emergence as the PDP candidate on March 22, arrived Ikere-Ekiti in an helicopter at exactly 2pm.
Fayose trekked for about three hours from Ikere-Ekiti to Ado-Ekiti in a journey that could have lasted 10 minutes with a car.
During the long procession, traders in Ado-Ekiti closed their shops and joined the welcome party.
