Afenifere chieftain and Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, has described Thursday’s attack on supporters of Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele by suspected thugs of the state government as the height of barbarism.
Adeyeye said: “Kayode Fayemi is fighting the wind and he will get himself consumed eventually.”
The Director General of Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement, Hon. Bisi Kolawole, said in a statement issued on Wednesday that “the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar must take stiffer measures to return peace to Ekiti State as it appears that the State Police Command can no longer handle the situation.”
Adeyeye, who said the state Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has declared war on Ekiti State and its people, added: “No leader can wage war against its people and succeed.
“With what happened in Ado-Ekiti today, it is clear that Fayemi is fighting against the wind and no one fights the wind without getting himself consumed.”
Adeyeye said he was worried by the spate of violence witnessed in the state in the last few months, calling on Abubakar to direct the Ekiti State Police Command to henceforth arrest and prosecute perpetrators of political violence, no matter their status.
The governorship aspirant said it was important for the police and other security agencies in the state to save Ekiti State people from the state government thugs that are daily attacking and disrupting activities of those perceived to be opposed to the second term ambition of Fayemi.
