Governor Kayode Fayemi on Monday morning headed for Abuja to report the Commissioner of Police in the state, Felix Uyanna, and the Mopol Commander, Gabriel Selenkere, to President Goodluck Jonathan on the violence that erupted between members of the All Progress Congress and those of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Speaking with journalists before he left for Abuja, Fayemi decried the manner the police handled the crisis, describing it as an “assassination attempt on the governor.”
One person, Taiwo Akinola, said to be a member of the APC, lost his life, while several others sustained varying degree of injuries in the crisis.
Fayemi said the death was avoidable.
He said he was saddened by the development.
He, however, said that the development would not deter or intimidate his party from voting in June 21 governorship election.
