Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former Director-General of the National Food and Drug Administration Agency (NAFDAC), Dr (Mrs.) Dora Akunyili.
Received and introduced to other members of the family on arrival at the Maitama, Abuja residence of the Akunyilis by the widower, Dr Chike Akunyili, Governor Fashola expressed the sympathy of the government and people of Lagos State on the passage of the former Minister of Information.
In a short interview after signing the condolence register, Governor Fashola urged everyone to respect the values which the late Dr Dora Akunyili represented.”They were values of self-conviction and of courage. Courage because she could follow through with her convictions,” he said.
According to the Governor, the former Minister of Information “has set a very high bar of the kind of conduct that public officers must be measured by.”
Commiserating with members of the immediate family of the deceased including her children – Njideka Akunyili and Obumneme Akunyili, Governor Fashola said the former NAFDAC Chief Executive left a worthy legacy of service. “We will all miss her”, he said.
