Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Sunday named the Media Gallery of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos State the ‘Folorunsho and Okonkwo Media Tribune’.
The late journalists, Ishola Folorunsho and Ernest Okonkwo, were honoured posthumously by the governor during the final match of the 2013 Federation Cup, played at the stadium.
The late Okonkwo ran football commentaries on Radio Nigeria, giving appropriate qualifying adjectives to players, administrators and referees.
The late Folorunsho, the second awardee, nicknamed ‘Mr. It-is-a-goal’, was another versatile and colourful commentator, who also worked for Radio Nigeria.
“The media gallery will henceforth be known as the ‘Folorunsho and Okonkwo Media Tribune’,” Fashola said.
